About Secretary Outsource

An enthusiastic and motivated self-starter, I have worked in many different environments during my 30+ year career as a senior secretary and latterly as office manager in my last 2 employed positions. Additionally, voluntary work as Secretary of both my local Scout Group and town Twinning Association helped to broaden my range of experience and enabled me to gain additional skills.

Having trained for 2 years at secretarial college and achieved one of the highest office professional qualifications available in the UK, (sadly no longer available), I have excelled in my field and the testimonials listed on this site and my Linked In page evidence the customer satisfaction I have always sought to provide.

From working at Director level for a high-street bank taking Board Meeting minutes, to working for a small business and publishing a book, my flexibility and experience enabled me to cope with any challenge presented (and there have been quite a few!)  In 1994 I was runner-up in the Times 'Secretary of the Year' competition.

I am a Fellow of the Institute of Administrative Management (FInstAM) and my membership enables me to keep my skills up to date, continue my professional development by networking with other like-minded professionals and attend seminars, workshops and conferences for office professionals locally, nationally and internationally.

Having enjoyed a varied and challenging career spanning many years in both the public and private sector, I decided to change emphasis and work for myself; in 2007 I started Secretary Outsource. I ran the business from my 'office' (spare bedroom) but having outgrown this space moved into offices at the Newhaven Enterprise Centre in July 2012.  Starting a business at the beginning of a period of recession is perhaps not the best idea, but ignorance was bliss and I worked hard through difficult trading conditions in 2008 and 2009 to make Secretary Outsource a success. Now coming up to 10 years on, I am still enjoying the challenge but enjoy a better work/life balance.

I live in a small town called Peacehaven on the south coast of England, near Brighton.
